Scope of Work & What's Included

Our approach to chain link fence in Gridley and surrounding counties covers every detail from initial property measurement and underground utility clearance through laser alignment and site cleanup:

Precision boundary survey, clearance verification, and mandatory Kansas One-Call (811) utility locates
Boring 36 to 42 inch deep post holes below the regional winter frost line using hydraulic augers
Setting heavy-gauge galvanized schedule 40 terminal, corner, and line posts in bell-bottom concrete
Installing continuous top rail pipe with sleeve couplings and heavy 7-gauge bottom tension wire
Stretching commercial 9-gauge galvanized or 8-gauge black vinyl-coated diamond mesh under tension
Custom welded walk and double equipment drive gates hung on heavy industrial hinges and drop rods

Kansas Ground & Weather Considerations

Chain link fences in East-Central Kansas fail when built with thin retail materials and shallow posts. Thin 11.5-gauge wire bends and unravels when dogs push against it, and omitting bottom tension wire allows pets to dig underneath. Shallow terminal posts set only 24 inches in wet Coffey County clay heave in winter freezes and lean inward under fabric tension, buckling top rails. Non-galvanized fittings rust quickly. We prevent these failures using commercial 9-gauge steel fabric, terminal post truss braces, 7-gauge bottom tension wire, and 36 to 42 inch bell-bottom footings.

Our Proven Installation & Build Process

1
1. Layout & Utility Clearance: We establish terminal post points and verify Kansas 811 utility markings before digging.
2
2. Deep Hydraulic Boring: Augering post holes 36 to 42 inches deep for terminal posts using skid-steer hydraulic units.
3
3. Bell-Bottom Post Setting: Setting galvanized steel terminal and line posts plumb in high-strength concrete footings.
4
4. Framework & Tension Wire Assembly: Installing top rails through loop caps and stringing 7-gauge bottom tension wire.
5
5. Mechanical Fabric Tensioning: Stretching commercial 9-gauge mesh drum-tight with mechanical come-alongs.
6
6. Gate Hanging & Site Cleanup: Mounting welded steel walk and drive gates with industrial latching hardware.

Cost Factors & Pricing

Chain link fence pricing in Gridley and Burlington is determined by linear footage, height (4-ft residential vs. 6-ft security), and wire gauge. Commercial 9-gauge galvanized or black vinyl-coated mesh costs slightly more than thin 11.5-gauge wire but delivers far greater longevity. Adding bottom rail pipe, privacy slats, or wide equipment gates also influences the final quote. We provide itemized, written quotes with zero hidden fees.

Permits & Utility Locates

Chain link fence projects observe Coffey County zoning setbacks and municipal codes in Burlington, Gridley, and Emporia. Rear and side yards typically permit up to 6-foot chain link, with front yards capped at 48 inches to protect traffic sightlines. Kansas 811 utility locates are verified before drilling. Rural perimeter fence lines follow Kansas partition fence statutes. Kraft Fencing carries full general liability insurance.

Kansas Communities Served for Chain Link Fence

Our Gridley-based crews provide on-site consultations, underground Kansas 811 utility mark coordination, and complete chain link fence across East-Central Kansas:

Coffey County, KS: Our home county: John Redmond Reservoir, Coffey County Lake (Wolf Creek's cooling lake) and Neosho River bottoms mean many fence lines sit on wet, flood-prone ground.
Burlington, KS: Coffey County seat on the Neosho River just below John Redmond Dam; older homes on low ground near the river need posts set for wet soils.
Yates Center, KS: Woodson County seat with a historic courthouse square; aging homes in town and surrounding cattle pasture mean wood privacy repairs inside town and barbed-wire rebuilds outside.
Lebo, KS: Lebo, just off I-35 in northern Coffey County near Melvern Lake, has commuter homes plus farmsteads where split-rail and chain-link line the highway frontage.
Madison, KS: Madison, at the Greenwood County line west of Gridley, is gateway Flint Hills ranch country where pipe fence, barbed wire and corral work dominate.
Olpe, KS: Olpe, south of Emporia on K-99, is surrounded by row-crop and cattle ground; farmstead pens and livestock lots drive woven-wire and pipe fence work.
LeRoy, KS: LeRoy sits in a Neosho River bend southeast of Gridley; small-town lots back onto cropland, so chain-link and woven-wire pet and garden fences are common.
New Strawn, KS: New Strawn was built after the old Strawn townsite was flooded for John Redmond Reservoir; its newer homes sit near Coffey County Lake and Wolf Creek.
Hartford, KS: Hartford borders the Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge at John Redmond's upper end; refuge-edge farms need deer-resistant garden fence and flood-ready posts.
Neosho Rapids, KS: Neosho Rapids sits on the Neosho River between Emporia and Hartford; river-bottom farms see flood debris load fences, so H-braces and steel posts hold up best.

“Brandon with Kraft Fencing went above and beyond to repair my fence that had been broken due to poor design by another company. He answered my call and gave me a quote within a day and was out here two days later. Brandon worked very hard in the hottest part of the day to make sure everything was perfect. I would recommend him to anyone that needs a fence built or repaired. Thank you Kraft Fencing.”

“Casey and Roman Kraft did a cedar fence rebuild for my wife and I in December of '25. Our original fence was over 20 years old and in bad need of replacement. Casey came to my house on a Sunday to measure the property and discuss our plans. He got us the bid that evening. His price was extremely competitive and his reviews online were stellar. The days Kraft Fencing committed to build were the 2 rainiest days in December. There were flash flood warnings posted on both of those days and still, Casey and Roman showed up and went to work. I felt bad but they had top notch rain gear and smiles on their faces. They and their crew showed up at 7:30am both days and just got after the job. The craftsmanship is very impressive. They use screws instead of nails, the posts are beefier than the standard 4x4 post, and they use clear cedar in all the wood work except for the posts. The most impressive thing we experiened with Casey and his company was how he and his crew responded to a mistake that was made. He listened to our concern, gave us a few options to rectify the mistake, made sure both my wife and I would be happy with the work around, and then went about his business and made it right (without any additional charge). What a fantastic business he runs and what an ethical guy he is. I give him a 10/10 recommendation if you are looking to get a new fence installed. Brendan H. Great price”

“Kraft fencing did a great job installing our aluminum fence. It was a big job and a difficult yard to fence, as there were multiple changes in elevation. However, the fence looks great, and it was completed quickly. 10/10 recommend”
